- Replaces the existing brick manhole on 7th Street
- New cast-in-place base section and precast manhole will be installed
- Will include traffic control, groundwater pumping system and sewage bypass pumping
WHY IT’S NEEDED
The existing structure is missing several bricks, allowing water to infiltrate the collection system. There is a risk of catastrophic failure in the roadway.
Due to the relatively small size of the project, obtaining a private contractor was challenging. This resulted in substantial financial savings by performing the work with City staff, but significantly delayed the project as adequate staff resources had to be temporarily re-assigned from their regular duties operating the system.
