McDonald’s/Highway 395 Sewer Line Replacement
The S.E. Street gravity sewer line.
DESCRIPTION
PROJECT ID: | S 12.0 |
ESTIMATED COST: | $330,000 |
ACTUAL COST: | $180,004.54* |
- Replaces existing sanitary sewer lines in poor condition or with capacity limitations
- Installs about 700 feet of new polyvinyl chloride sewer pipe north of McDonald’s
- Includes roadway restoration, traffic control, high groundwater mitigation, and sewage bypass pumping
* The cost coming in below estimate is attributable to a very low bid by the construction contractor, which, with direct oversight by Anderson Perry, was delivered satisfactorily with minimal change-orders.
WHY IT’S NEEDED
Pipe segments were found to have structural failures in multiple locations and failing joints, causing pipe blockage and requires monthly cleaning. Additionally, pipe failure may be allowing sewage to exfiltrate into the surrounding soil. New sewer lines would eliminate current monthly maintenance costs and provide watertight lines to protect existing groundwater resources from contamination.
