Lift Station No. 3 Upgrades
Lift Station No. 3 is underneath Highway 395.
|PROJECT ID:||S 15.0|
- Extends a gravity line to Lift Station No. 6, which is also in poor shape (see W 13.0). Extending the line under Union Pacific Railroad tracks is more cost effective than replacing both lift stations
- Traffic control will be necessary
WHY IT’S NEEDED
Lift Station No. 3 was built in approximately 1981 and located underneath Highway 395. The pump and electrical systems need to be replaced.
Preliminary engineering concludes decommissioning Lift #3 and installing new gravity lines to be feasible and more cost effective than upgrading and replacing Lift #3.
Design Engineering begins for new project.
Preliminary Engineering completed and submitted to Union Pacific Railroad for review of boring under tracks.
Review continues by Union Pacific Railroad.
Union Pacific Railroad review complete. Bid documents prepared for project advertisement.
Contract awarded to Tapani, Inc. for $561,924. (Staff report)
Railroad boring and trenching begins.
Boring contractor struck a metal obstruction believed to be a railcar, requiring a pause in the project to dig a larger casing to cut through the obstruction. This is estimated to increase the cost to $1.2 million.
Boring completed underneath railroad line is complete.
Project winterized, scheduled to resume in the spring.
Work begins to extend sewer main in Ridgeway Right of Way from the rail line with some minor work in Highway 395 ahead of planned decommissioning in March.
