Geer Road Water Line Extension

Crews extend the water main along Geer Road in northwest Hermiston.

DESCRIPTION

PROJECT ID: W 14.0
ESTIMATED COST: $150,000
ACTUAL COST: $72,751.04*
  • Extends the city water main from W. Theater Lane to W. Harper Road.
  • Aligns with current road right-of-way to minimize need for asphalt removal and replacement.
  • Tees and valves will allow future installation of fire hydrants

WHY IT’S NEEDED

Dead-end line provides water to more than 200 homes and businesses. Any shutdown cuts off service to the entire area.

“Looping” the line will mitigate inconvenience during maintenance or a line break. The project will also improve flow for fire protection and increase both water quality and pressure.

* Cost savings were possible because the city had much of the pipe on-hand for the contractor to install.
